Bringing down the number of crimes committed is a key part of the work that the Safer Portsmouth Partnership does to protect the public and minimise risk. But we need to do more than just prevent offenders from committing further crimes to have an impact. We need those offenders to choose not to commit crimes.
Through our partnership we recognise that we need to work with offenders to challenge their thinking, behaviour and lifestyle choices. This work is carried out under the Seven Pathways to reduce re-offending:-
Accommodation
Education, Training and Employment
Health
Drugs and Alcohol
Finance, Benefits and Debt
Children and Families
Attitude, Thinking and behaviour
Reducing re-offending cannot be the responsibility of just one organisation and the Safer Portsmouth Partnership utilises the expertise of all its members. This is done on a practical level by the introduction of Intergrated Offender Management (IOM).
