Portsmouth has a Wellbeing Service who can support anyone who wants to cut down their drinking. Call us on 023 9229 4001 to speak to one of our team. In fact there are many services available in Portsmouth to help those experiencing alcohol problems. You can read about them below or call the Wellbeing Service. We are here to help, not judge you.

Our Wellbeing Service has a trained team of Wellbeing Workers who can support you with giving up smoking, reducing your alcohol consumption and maintaining a healthy weight. Struggling to tackle these issues might be due to other issues - such as managing debt, finding employment and housing, and low confidence. Our Wellbeing Service has links to other Council services and specialist organisations to help you with these.

Free, confidential counselling for alcohol problems is available from Portsmouth Counselling Service. To benefit from this service call 023 9273 5836 or 023 92737 989 9am - 9pm, Monday to Friday

National support services
Tel: 0845 7697 555 There are a number of groups held locally, call the national number above for further information. Members will share their experiences and help other group members to recover from alcohol dependence and maintain sobriety.
Al-Anon & Alateen website

Al-Anon Family Groups provide support to anyone whose life is, or has been, affected by someone else’s drinking. Alateen is for teenage relatives and friends .ho have or are being affected by someone else’s drinking. http://al-anon.org/for-alateen/how-will-alateen-help-me
Alateen meetings are attended by 12-17 year olds. Local Groups held every Thursday at Southsea Community Centre, St Pauls Square. (off Kings Road) PO5 4EE 7.40pm-9.20pm contact Sandy on 02392 435047 come along for a warm welcome and to meet like minded people.
