What's your score?

People often get confused at what alcohol units mean, how many they should safely drink and what the long-term effects on their health will be.

To make it easy, the partnership has produced various marketing materials with alcohol units on. The leaflets and posters have information about what units are in popular drinks.

To find out how in control you are of your drinking, why not take our AUDIT - Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test?

Download it here.

There is a NHS unit calculator you can use here.

Students, Calories & Alcohol

The University of Portsmouth has taken the proactive step of projecting two digital lighting designs into their bars and nightclub that high-light how many calories are in certain alcoholic drinks.

In these visual messages, each drink is compared with food to show that drinking too much can mean you pile on the pounds.

Some of the drinks and what they're equal to are:

  • Pint of Snakebite and Black is 385 cals = A cheeseburger
  • Vodka single shot is 55 cals = 1 onion bhaji
  • Vodka double shot is 110 cals = A packet of ready salted crisps
  • Peach schnapps single shot is 150 cals = A slice of pizza
  • Cola 100ml is 42 cals = 2 jelly babies
  • Pint of lager is 200 cals = A chicken drumstick
  • Pint of cider is 239 cals = A portion of egg fried rice
  • White rum 5 ml shot is 51 cals = A poppadom
  • Bottled vodka is 180 cals = A packet of chocolate
